The Orchard Project is the center of my current artistic practice. I focus on the principles and practices of natural agriculture to integrate the primal elements of fire, water, earth, carbon, flora, and fauna. These are the mediums of my art. Each element has its own voice, and these voices are in constant conversation with each other; working together to create a living sculpture. I listen intently to what they are saying. This allows me to build and create my art though a symbiotic relationship with my companion species both above and below ground. The elements are my allies and a consideration at each step in the artistic process.

My work is partly a response to the empty field that used to hold giant old growth trees common to northern Pennsylvania. This location now is a field that no longer grows a diversity of plant life, contains only a few select weeds, and a soil that is in need of healing. My art demonstrates the intent to balance, and remake a more resilient land, that is regenerative and full of reciprocity.

I have empathy for the struggle of a place to heal itself and I see us as the seeds of regeneration all around. My art focuses attention on the positive adjustment a single person can make in their own place and time. I do not need to shout to save the world, I just need to do, to toil, to create work that is healing and positive, and remembering where we fit into the natural world. Nature laughs at me at times for attempting to mold her into this sculpture, however she is my cocreator. She speaks and I answer in only the way I can with regenerative interventions and commitment to my artistic practice of reclaiming place.
